Practical Matters

The Chickenshed sleeps 8 in uncluttered comfort.

There are 4 bedrooms. Two bedrooms have kingsize beds with ensuite shower rooms; 1 bedroom has a kingside bed; and 1 bedroom has twin beds. Each bedroom has bedside wall cupboards, underbed storage drawers and a hanging rail. There is also a large family bathroom which has both a bath and a separate shower.

The living area is open plan but is divided up by use into separate “rooms within a room” – there is a kitchen area (with oven, dishwasher, 2 fridges, sink, worktop and an island with hob and extractor fan); there is a large dining table with seating for 8; there is a sitting area with a long sofa, an ottoman and chairs around the log burner; and there is a Snug with a large sofa, TV and music system. There is satellite wifi.  In addition, there is a boot room with hanging, storage and a bench.

There is underfloor heating throughout which is individually controllable in each bedroom and the family bathroom. The hot water for the underfloor heating, kitchen and bathrooms is all supplied by means of an air source heat pump.  All of the equipment is contained in a small plant room, along with a washer-dryer, ironing board, etc. A microwave oven, travel-cot and high-chair are available on request.

Outside, there is a stone paved terrace across the front of the building, accessible from the many doors in both the living area and bedrooms; there is a generous garden with both flat grassed areas and steeper areas of grass and woodland; and there is a logstore. Access is also possible into the approx 2 acre field behind the building which is rich in wildlife, and from there (by way of public footpath) into Parkhouse Wood (itself a Site of Special Scientific Interest).  Dogs are welcome at the Chickenshed.
